Main aspects of strategic partnership between the states and prospects of deepening the cooperation were the main topics discussed during the meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim.
The meeting started with discussing the recent events taking developments in Turkey. Giorgi Kvirikashvili reasserted Georgian Government’s support to the democratically elected Government of Turkey and the Turkish people. According to him, preserving of stability in Turkey as well as reinforcement of existing strategic partnership between the countries is important to Georgia.
Prime Minister of Turkey thanked Government of Georgia for demonstrating support to the stability in Turkey and assessed the visit of the Georgian Prime Minister as a step towards further development of strategic partnership between the countries.
Parties paid particular attention to the cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, transportation and energy. Need for further intensification of the bilateral trade and prospects of increasing Georgian export to the Turkish market were discussed. The conversation also touched upon the joint energy and transportation projects.
The heads of the Governments of the countries assessed the importance of the first session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Turkey and Georgia. They expressed hope that said platform will enable discussing of the matters of common interest and deepening political dialogue.
The conversation also touched upon the recent regional developments as well as the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia.
Prime Minister of Turkey emphasized unwavering support of Turkey to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
At the end of the meeting the parties expressed readiness to support extending of the strategic partnership between the countries.
