Prime Minister of Georgia and Ambassador of India Discuss Establishment of Indian Embassy in Georgia and Commencement of Intensive Negotiations for Concluding an FTA Between the Two Countries

Establishment of an Indian Embassy in Georgia and commencement of intensive negotiations for signing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries were discussed by Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia and H.E. Kishan Dan Dewal, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of India to Armenia and Georgia at a meeting held today at the Government Administration.
It was noted that the decision made by the Republic of India regarding the establishment of an embassy in Georgia is gratifying, as relations are developing between the two countries as time progresses.
Particular focus was made on a further deepening of trade and economic relations between the two countries, which will be significantly facilitated by concluding an FTA. Ambassador of India confirmed the readiness of the Republic of India for intensifying negotiations on signing an FTA. Relevant due diligence has been completed and the first round of negotiations between the two countries that were delayed due to the pandemic will be held in the nearest future.
